Annotation for Point E

If hemoperitoneum remains a concern in an unstable patient
with a negative FAST, a diagnostic peritoneal aspirate
should be considered. A positive diagnostic peritoneal aspirate
is aspiration greater than 10 mL of gross blood and
warrants operative exploration in an unstable patient.21
